UK and Ireland

Cisco BIG Awards

Digital health startup uMotif has won Cisco British Innovation Gateway (BIG) Awards 2013.

uMotif was crowned the winner from among the hundreds of innovative startups and SMEs that entered. The six semifinalists were put through their paces with a rigorous Q&A session testing them on every detail of their business. Whisk.com and Actual Experience secured second and third place and also received cash and technology prizes to support and accelerate the development of their brands and businesses.

 

 

The Netherlands

Cisco Supplied Network Infrastructure During Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague

More than 50 world leaders attended the Nuclear Security Summit 2014, including President Barack Obama, trailing some 5000 delegates and 3000 journalists in their wake. They communicated during the two-day summit using a fully integrated wired and wireless network that was built and managed by Cisco in collaboration with the NSS team. Cisco had also set up a fully equipped network operations center (NOC).

 

 

Italy

Cisco Live

Building on the success at London and San Diego Cisco Live, the IT Millennial Program was again hosted by the IT Management (ITM) Program, this time for Cisco Live 2014 in Milan. The program aims to give employees of the millennial generation a rare opportunity to experience and contribute to Cisco Live.

Graduates and attendees made the most of this initiative talking to customers about their experiences and Cisco, providing their millennial view on the atmosphere of the event. They continued with the tradition of supporting the ITM Program, the CiscoLive app, and much more.

 

 

Romania

More Together Week

Girls in IT Day, hosted by the Romanian team in the Bucharest Office was the highlight of their week. Women from Cisco Partners and the local Cisco office hosted the event with 33 high school students participating who also attend the Cisco Networking Academy®. The event focused on networking but more importantly was an opportunity to share experiences, challenges and excitement of a career in IT, and how we maintain a balance between professional and personal life. Hungry for future similar events the girls left with enthusiasm.

 

 

Denmark

Danish National Stadium PARKEN to Become Most Connected Venue in Denmark with Cisco’s Latest Wi-Fi and Mobile Video Solutions

Denmark’s national stadium, PARKEN, is to become one of the most connected stadiums in Scandinavia. The fan technology suite includes Connected Stadium Wi-Fi, a high-density solution that reliably connects thousands of fans concurrently; Cisco StadiumVision® Mobile, the latest technology that offers dynamic channel viewing and data for fans to consume on the latest mobile devices; and Cisco StadiumVision, which allows the venue to target and deliver high-definition video and digital content throughout the stadium. The approximately one million people visiting PARKEN stadium every year will soon be able to enjoy free reliable Wi-Fi.

 

 

Russia

Russia’s Largest Water Supply Company Chooses Cisco Videoconferencing Solution

Cisco’s video communications solution has been deployed by JSC Mosvodokanal, which provides water supply and sanitation for more than 15 million residents of Moscow and the Moscow region. A geographically distributed HD video system based on Cisco hardware was deployed in five months at 33 sites with 65 endpoints.

The new solution enables video telephony for regular weekly conferences under the leadership of the general director and operational meetings of water supply and sanitation departments. The system capabilities simplify the interaction of employees in remote locations and improve the quality of communications services while significantly reducing decision-making times and cutting costs.

Cisco Highlights Qualifications to Support Dubai’s Smart City Ambitions

Senior Cisco executives outlined the company’s blueprint for creating a sustainable smart and connected city. Cisco believes that the principles of openness that have made the Internet a thriving ecosystem over the past 20 years can be applied to provide a means for cities to manage services, provide citywide information, learn more about how their citizens use managed services and provide business opportunities as well.

By drawing on Cisco’s experience from current strategic partnerships in smart city initiatives, experts and analysts agree that Dubai’s Smart City plans could create one of the world’s most connected and sustainable urban centers.
